Sorry it’s been awhile, I had a super busy week up in Dublin and whatnot but I’m back now and I have a veerrrry exciting post to share with you today. While I was away, I received a package from The Handmade Soap Co… containing one of their new lip balms to try out!! The excitement I felt is indescribable.. so I won’t even try put it in words but Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah should be sufficient for now!
For those who are unfamiliar with this company.. they are an irish-based company who make literally the most delicious concoctions of products. I like to think of them as Lush meets Burts Bees… falls in love and has a precious love child… to put simply.. their products are awesome! The company founded by Donagh Quigley offers a range of handmade beauty and grooming goodies, all made in an old fashioned way based on old fashioned values. They are unlike a lot of other modern cosmetic companies as they shy away from any chemical nasties and instead opt for more “Body-friendly” natural ingredients (which is perfect for my oh so sensitive body)
Their newest products in their ridiculously amazing range are their lip balms. They come in a small handy-sized tin and claim to be “good enough to eat” (which believe me…they are!)The lip balms come in what I would describe as a very vintagey feel packaging…which is really up my alley…I’m a sucker for pretty packaging!
I was kindly sent the “Choco-Mint” flavoured lip balm to try out. This lip balm is made from real chocolate and mint, so self-restraint is required to not eat the entire tin. It’s for your lips not your tummies guys! Unlike a lot of lip balms I have tried in the past (I shan’t name any names) this lipbalm is not sticky in the slightest but is yet, very moisturising. The mint in my “Choco-Mint” lipbalm, makes my lips feel all tingly and “plumped up” and refreshed?…if that makes any sense. However, for those of you out there that aren’t to keen on mint, they also come in two other flavours; “Sweet Orange” (which I personally really want to try out) and “Au Natural with Rosehip Oil”.
Over all, this product really won me over. It ticked all my boxes in my lip balm check-list (yes I really have a lip balm check-list). The packaging was cute, it smelled amazing, the texture wasn’t sticky or offensive, it actually cared for my lips and kept them nice and moisturised, when I applied the lip balm there was a slight shine but no colour transfer which I find great and last but not least they are Irish-made which can only mean something awesome 😉
These sexy lip balms retail at 4.50 yo yos…which I think is WELL worth it and reasonable for the high quality product that you get! They would be an awesome gift idea for someone near and dear to you OR as a gift for your fabulous self 😉
Now, WHERE THE HELL CAN I find these amazing sounding treasures you may ask? Luckily, their products are stocked in many many places in Ireland. To name just a few in my nearest location which is Dublin:you can find them in: The Kilkenny Shop, 6 Nassau St. Airfield House, Dundrum. The National Museum of Ireland, Kildare St and Clerys, Lower O’Connell St.
They can be found all over Ireland in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Down, Galway, Kildare, Kerry, Laois, Limerick, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Tipperary. Tyrone, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow, so you can easily get your hands on these beauties.
Oh and for anybody in the UK, I was also informed that you can purchase them in Bloomsbury Store in Bath, Bristol. Fenwicks in Canterbury and the Golden Sheaf Gallery in Pembrokeshire.
